Newsletter: Trusting The Fall

Hi everyone...

It has been a while. How are you all doing? My heart has been feeling tender and some days life feels overwhelming. It seems many of us are feeling the big shifts as we ride some choppy, uncertain waters and sometimes feeling lost at sea. When it is hard to see the other side, it is tempting to try and paddle backwards. That is even more exhausting, so maybe surrendering into the unknown allows us space to rest and trust our inner compass. My energy has been tired, tired of the divisiveness, tired of the hurt, and I have needed more time to process these big feelings and shift them into hope.

With all the hurt and struggle in the world it can be hard to stay hopeful. I don’t need to recap, it’s everywhere. How do we stay engaged and not escape the difficult work that’s part of expansion and evolving? The practice of yoga, the inner work of self-inquiry and honestly addressing our part can help us shift with more self trust amid the chaos of the highs and lows we are navigating.

We are being exposed to so much and we can’t put up walls to block it all. We can find ways to shelter ourselves from the heaviness that is not ours to carry. Looking at our patterns when we are in fear can help us understand what needs holding and comforting so we feel safe. This builds a connection of trust so we are compassionate with ourselves. If we don’t trust ourselves, how can we trust each other?

As we build new structures, it takes time. As old stories unravel, we can reflect, and stay committed to owning our part. History repeats itself when we don’t learn the lessons and we are bound to keep circling back. I’ve done this many times, but what I gain is a deeper understanding of what I can change, myself. That changes the dynamics of all my relationships. The best way to heal the world is to face our own wounding.

As the leaves fall in the northern hemisphere and autumn arises, this is a fertile shift to celebrate the garden you have grown. The labor and the mud that has helped you compost and build your unique life. If you feel you have lost your way, take a deep breath, and be gentle with yourself. Sometimes we have to let go and allow the new way to unfold, and this can be scary. Fall is a season that strips away leaving us feeling naked. It is seductive to want to slip back into comfortable patterns. Our sensitivity is high, so it is an auspicious time for patience to seed new connections.

The Fall equinox is a portal to bring us into greater balance with the dark and light within us. One is not better than the other, just different cycles of depth and consciousness. A time to go beyond the binary of good vs bad, and toward understanding over judgement. Trust is born when we fall down and have the courage to rise with the wisdom from humble beginnings. There may have been times we have put our trust in others who have not held us. By putting to rest old wounds, we can learn to hold our hurts and trust love to guide us forward to the truth of who we are.

In trust and love, honoring the blessings of Fall,
Mia
